We welcome all who attend our Lord’s Day (Sunday) services or our Wednesday evening meetings for Bible Study & Prayer. We especially welcome any who are considering the things of God for the first time or who may not be regular Church attenders.

The services consist of hymn-singing, prayer, Bible reading, and an explanation of the reading with its relevance to our lives.
We believe that God’s Word, the Bible, needs to be better understood by all people. As the Word of God, it is always relevant.
We also believe that the whole of the Bible is God’s Word, and every part has rich lessons for us today. “Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.” Psalm 119:128
For these reasons the public ministry ranges across the whole of scripture. The preacher seeks to explain each portion of the Bible and draw out its lessons for us.
The hymn books we use are: Christian Hymns (original version) and Psalms And Hymns of Reformed Worship.
Facilities exist for the disabled: a ramp allows the main building to be accessed by those in wheelchairs, an induction loop is fitted for those who use hearing aids, and our toilet facilities are suitable for wheelchair users.

Invitation
This section introduces Cowley Hill Free Church to you and explains what you would find if you came to one of our services. We hope that after reading it you would like to pay us a visit.
First of all, you would be made to feel welcome; we are interested in people – Jesus was, and He told His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every one. We always seek to do what the Lord Jesus Christ said and therefore the gospel, or the good news of Jesus Christ, is central to our services. The services consist of hymn singing, prayer, Bible reading, and an explanation of the reading with its relevance to our lives.
The Bible is the most important book in the world because it is the “Maker’s instructions”. We all recognise the foolishness of someone ignoring instruction with any other valuable possession, so how foolish it is to use our lives ignoring God.
Come and hear what God has said about us, the world, the future, about living and dying, about what follows this life.

At the front of our meeting room, you will find a pulpit – not an altar. There are two reasons for this:
Firstly, altars are for sacrifice; and Christ offered the one final all-sufficient sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. The scripture states: “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down at the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:12-14)
Secondly, Christ’s Great Commission to the disciples was to “Teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19); to “Preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Preaching and teaching is also the means by which God’s people are to be instructed.
All religions are not the same: there is only one way to God. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
You will not be asked to join anything at this church, you will not be asked for money at this church, you are simply asked to come and listen to God’s Word. But if you find yourself believing the gospel of Jesus Christ your life will be changed – for better – for ever.

Questions?
The Bible answers the most important questions we can ever ask – questions about God, ourselves, life, death, Christ, and eternity. Please contact us if you want further help, free literature – or simply to talk.
Is there a God? What is He like? “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty” (Exodus 34:6-7)
How can we know Him? “Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the LORD hath spoken” (Isaiah 1:2)
What is His verdict on the human race? “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Romans 3:10)
What happens after death? “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement” (Hebrews 9:27)
What hope is there then? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18)
What must I do? “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31)
